Tennessee football moves back up SEC Power Rankings with win at LSU
Lost to Mississippi State Bulldogs 40-17
It’s not the same Arkansas team as last year. Sam Pittman’s program really squandered an opportunity with their loss to the Texas A&M Aggies, and that could create more problems in the future. Losing to Mississippi State and Alabama is bad enough, but both games being a blowout is an even bigger problem.
Alabama covered despite Bryce Young being hurt, and then Mississippi State made the Hogs look like they don’t even belong on the same field. Is the league catching up to Kendal Briles’ offense? More likely is that the Hogs’ defense can’t stop some of these SEC offenses.
Either way, Arkansas is now 3-3 and needs to find a way to generate new life. Of course, K.J. Jefferson missed last week, but it still looks ridiculous that he was ever considered to be a better quarterback than Tennessee football’s Hendon Hooker.
Fortunately for Arkansas, Jefferson should be back this week, but they have a tough non-conference matchup in a visit to the BYU Cougars. Then they have a bye before visiting Auburn. The good news? Every game left is winnable, as they still have the LSU Tigers at home along with the Liberty Flames and Ole Miss. Add in a trip to Mizzou, and 8-4 or 9-3 is still possible.
