Tennessee football moves back up SEC Power Rankings with win at LSU
Lost to Alabama Crimson Tide 24-20
Well Tennessee football will thank Texas A&M. Jimbo Fisher’s team forced Alabama to put up a fight a week before their visit to Rocky Top, giving Vol fans everywhere a ton of confidence. Doing so also moved them up one spot in our SEC Power Rankings, especially since Mississippi State, the team who beat them the previous week, scored another blowout.
Don’t get too high on this team, though. The Texas Longhorns gave Alabama a game, and Alabama played this game without its quarterback. There is still plenty of reason to be down on Jimbo Fisher’s team and his program given the type of money he’s getting paid.
Nothing about this program has suggested it’s in the top half of the league. Even that win over Arkansas gets less and less impressive as that team continues to struggle. Also, there is nothing impressive about beating the Miami Hurricanes, and they still have that loss to the Appalachian State Mountaineers on their resume.
A much-needed bye comes this week for A&M. After that, they have a winnable matchup in a visit to South Carolina, and they still host Florida, the UMASS Minutemen and LSU in November while visiting Auburn. That should be eight wins. Ole Miss at home is what will define their year.
