Tennessee football stock report after Week 6 of 2022
Stock up
Running backs
This offense has gone for over 200 yards on the ground in three straight games. Sure, it helps when you have a mobile quarterback like Hendon Hooker, but against LSU, Tennessee football’s running backs combined to hit 200 yards alone. Jabari Small led the way with 127 yards and two touchdowns, but Jaylen Wright had over 50 yards.
Add in 14 yards from Dylan Sampson, and that’s how you hit 200. For the whole year, the Vols have gone for over 200 yards on the ground in every game except their win at the Pittsburgh Panthers, where they had just over 90 yards. Their run game is working well right now.
Pass rush
Honestly, it was a stock worth buying after their win over the Florida Gators. The Vols focused so heavily on containing Anthony Richardson that they were naturally not going to bring a lot of pressure. Despite Jayden Daniels also being a mobile quarterback, LSU’s system is different, and it allowed them to turn loose.
In the process, Rocky Top came away with five sacks. Everybody will talk about Byron Young’s two and a half sacks, and he was the star, but Roman Harrison also came in and had a sack. Joshua Josephs had one too. There’s no reason to think this will let up either.
