Other former Vols who didn’t play

Inactive

Matthew Butler – DL – Las Vegas Raiders

Despite seeing some action in previous weeks, the fifth-round pick from Tennessee football was inactive as the Raiders lost to the Chiefs 30-29.

Backups who didn’t see the field

Joshua Dobbs – QB – Cleveland Browns

Jacoby Brissett’s backup still hasn’t played this year. He was on the bench as the Browns lost to the Chargers 30-28 Sunday.

Cade Mays – OL – Carolina Panthers

The sixth-round draft pick out of Tennessee football in 2022 still hasn’t yet seen the field for the Panthers. However, Matt Rhule’s firing after their 37-15 loss to the 49ers may change that.

On practice squads

Micah Abernathy – DB – Green Bay Packers

John Kelly – RB – Cleveland Browns

Khalil McKenzie – OL – Baltimore Ravens

Based on what’s been happening the past couple of weeks, Tennessee football’s biggest stars are getting wrecked by injury. Emmannuel Moseley and Cordarrelle Patterson stood out the most for the Vols until two Sundays ago, now both are out. That makes this a sad month so far.

Of course, before Moseley and Patterson, Alvin Kamara was banged up. Meanwhile, Derek Barnett and Ja’Wuan James are out for the year. The Vols have just been unlucky with some of their biggest stars in the pros early on in the season.
