Tennessee football: Five key Vols to watch for vs. Alabama

It’s weapons galore for Tennessee football. However, Cedric Tillman is still banged up, regardless of whether or not he’s able to go on Saturday. That once again leaves Jalin Hyatt and Bru McCoy. If this were a traditional Alabama defense given the way Nick Saban usually plays, McCoy would be more important in that group.
However, in this game, Hyatt is actually more important. Look, with or without Tillman, McCoy and Ramel Keyton have the same style of play to be effective against Bama. They play a good bit more soft coverage this year, and that’s a reason to believe in the Vols weapons.
Hyatt, though, is the guy that can really cash in on that in open space. He had both passing touchdowns from Hendon Hooker last week. Alabama allowed Texas A&M receiver Evan Stewart, who is only 5’11”, to gain 106 yards on eight catches. These are the type of players who could torch the Tide in a game.
As a freshman in 2020, Hyatt had his breakout game against Alabama with two catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. He has lived up to the hype that was generated from that game this year, and it’s time to bring it full circle. UT needs him to be a star on Saturday.
