Big non-conference games usually come in September and the last week of the season, particularly for the SEC, so this is certainly a unique October matchup. It’s also one that just might be the hardest game to pick this weekend, and the line certainly reflects that.

If the Arkansas Razorbacks are going to get back on track, maybe a non-conference game against a Power Five adjacent team on the road is what’s needed. Sam Pittman’s team could handle losing the past two, but that loss to the Texas A&M Aggies before them is what really wrecked this season. Ending a three-game losing streak may be difficult.

Tennessee football knows first-hand how dangerous the BYU Cougars can be in non-conference play, and they have this one at home. Kalani Sitake’s team is coming off a loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but they are undefeated at home, including a win over the Baylor Bears.

Prediction

The under is the best play here. Only three times in the combined 12 games these two teams have played has the game gone over this. In terms of who wins, well, regardless of whether or not he plays, K.J. Jefferson just appears too banged up. As a result, BYU will pull out an ugly one, just as they did against the Baylor Bears, so take them outright and the under.

BYU: 27 Arkansas: 16 (BYU EVEN; Under 66.5)
