It’s a battle of teams who fell out of the top 25 after losing to Tennessee football. In fact, these are the last two teams Tennessee football beat. Neither is in any championship race this year with first-year head coaches, but both are trying to make a strong first impression and get back into the top 25, making this a huge game.

The Florida Gators come in off a touchdown win over the Missouri Tigers, and while that didn’t look great, every team has struggled with Mizzou. They blew out the Eastern Washington Eagles the week before, and for the most part, and Billy Napier’s team can now refocus after a hurricane was a big distraction the past two weeks.

On the other side, LSU looked a lot worse in its loss to Tennessee football, dropping a 40-13 game at home last week. However, Brian Kelly’s team has shown promise in other games and is a slew of special teams miscues away from at least being 5-1 and making last week a game. Technically, they’re still in the SEC West race, although not realistically.

Prediction

This line seems based on Florida playing at home and LSU looking worse against Tennessee football. The Vols were coming off a bye for them, though, and had a bunch of breaks to start fast. Not a lot proved LSU was worse than Florida, and the Tigers will show they are better this weekend. Take LSU in an upset, but in a coin flip, take the over.

LSU: 28 Florida: 27 (LSU +2.5; Over 50.5)
