Cedric Tillman is hurt. Alabama has specifically struggled with slot receivers this year. Jalin Hyatt had two touchdowns last week and is in the midst of a breakout run for Tennessee football. Josh Heupel’s best chance to beat Nick Saban is to have perfectly designed pass plays, and those usually involve Hyatt sneaking out in the slot.
Taking all of this into account, it’s a very good bet that Hyatt finds the end zone again. He did it last week, and while Alabama won’t pay for press man coverage the way LSU did, they still have some issues in their secondary that the Vols can exploit. Slot receivers are where they can exploit it.
Even if Tillman wasn’t hurt, Hyatt would be a great pick to score a touchdown. One overall look at the matchups shows that he is their biggest threat on offense, and you can bet that Hendon Hooker will look his way a lot throughout the game. You can also bet Heupel has at least one play up his sleeve for Hyatt.
In 2020, Hyatts scored his first touchdown ever for Tennessee football when facing Alabama. It was a 48-yard grab, and he showed his promise in that game with two catches for 86 yards. This is the game where he reveals that promise, so watch out.
