Tennessee football report card in 52-49 win vs. Alabama
Offensive grades part II
Wide receivers: A+
Ramel Keyton stopped running on a clear touchdown pass, and Bru McCoy had one drop. Who cares? Jalin Hyatt’s six catches for 207 yards and five touchdowns puts this at A+ range alone. Also, Keyton was still elite with five catches for 78 yards, and he and McCoy each had a catch on the final drive to set up Tennessee football’s game-winning field goal.
Tight ends: A-
Princeton Fant lined up at fullback and ran it in for one touchdown. He also had three catches for 24 yards. Jacob Warren added two catches for 13 yards, and they both blocked well. A failed fourth down pass to Warren makes this an A-, but by and large, this unit was elite.
Offensive line: A
Cooper Mays allowed one sack. Outside of that, the offensive line honestly played nearly perfect. Transcendent edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. was held to half a tackle for a loss, and the Vols had 182 yards rushing overall, averaging over four and a half yards a carry. Darnell Wright was the star, but everybody stepped up.
Overall offensive grade: A
Can you give any other grade to this unit? They dropped over 50 on a Nick Saban-coached team. Sure, penalties and a bad punt gave them one short field, and a muffed punt return gave them another short field. They had 567 yards of total offense, though.
