And then there were three. Yes, just three teams are undefeated in the SEC, and thanks to Tennessee football, the Alabama Crimson Tide are shockingly not one of them. Still, Alabama is one of the four teams that controls its own destiny in the SEC Championship race and likely the College Football Playoff race.

Let’s get the suspense out of the way. We don’t have to pretend that it’s a question as to who’s atop our SEC Power Rankings. The Vols are clearly there right now. However, how No. 2 through No. 4 is sorted is actually a question, even if the top four is clear. The bottom three is clear too, including the two schools winless in SEC play.

Outside of that, though, everything is up for grabs. You could use circular logic to say any team is better than another team, and that throws this somewhat for a loop, including a game between two teams Tennessee football already beat over the weekend. Here’s how this all shakes out in our SEC Power Rankings following Week 7 of 2022.

Beating the Alabama Crimson Tide cemented the Tennessee football Volunteers atop the Southeastern Conference.

Lost to Georgia Bulldogs 55-0

Reality has set in for the Vanderbilt Commodores. Look, Clark Lea inherited a mess. They’re playing the whole year with house money by just winning three games, all three by more points than they won any of their two games last year. Still, they are the worst team in the SEC, and they belong at the bottom of our SEC Power Rankings.

To be fair, there is no shame in getting blown out by the Georgia Bulldogs, but being winless and losing by the margins they’re losing by makes it clear they are the worst team in the league. That doesn’t mean, though, that they can’t make it interesting or sneak an upset the rest of the way.

Maybe it’ll be against the South Carolina Gamecocks or Florida Gators, both of whom are at home. They do have Tennessee football at home, but that’s a clear loss now, as is their visit to the Kentucky Wildcats. The best chance for them to steal a signature win is this week, though, as they have a road trip to the next team on this list.
