Tennessee football cements its spot atop SEC Power Rankings after Week 7
Lost to Ole Miss Rebels 48-34
Similar to Missouri, the Auburn Tigers have been competing with some of the top teams. Well, that’s the case with the exception of UGA, whom Mizzou almost beat but then blew out Auburn. Anyway, Bryan Harsin still seems like a lame duck coach, but they put up a fight against the Ole Miss Rebels for a while over the weekend.
Doing that wouldn’t be enough to keep them out of the bottom spot of our SEC Power Rankings, though. That extremely lucky, undeserved win over Mizzou is what keeps them in this spot. After all, until Mizzou or Vanderbilt wins a game, winless in SEC play will always play second fiddle to anybody who has a win, and Auburn has one.
Still, this is a struggling program. That’s actually good news for Tennessee football on the recruiting trail, as the Vols can pounce on Auburn in recruiting. Because of that, Auburn fans may want to keep losing so they can make a coaching move sooner rather than later.
Well, the last two weeks may just be the beginning of the bottom falling out. They now have a bye, but then Arkansas comes to town before they visit the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Then they host the Texas A&M Aggies, and that game at the Alabama Crimson Tide is still on the slate. Yes, going 4-8 is still on the table, but maybe a bye is the chance to turn it around.
