Did not play

What do we make of Jimbo Fisher’s team? Honestly, Alabama losing to Tennessee football with Bryce Young last weekend is a bad look for Texas A&M, which seemed to get credit for almost beating the Tide when they had Jalen Milroe at quarterback. What we’re seeing is Alabama is a bad team except for Young, so A&M should have won.

That combined with not playing and other teams having big wins forced us to drop them a spot in our SEC Power Rankings this week. Look, A&M has two Power Five wins. The Miami Hurricanes are one of them, and they turned out to be awful. Arkansas is the other. Both just ended three-game losing streaks this past weekend.

The loss to the Appalachian State Mountaineers is still on the slate, and this just doesn’t look like a good team. With the SEC West likely out of reach, now, they need a strong finish again just to justify the money Fisher is receiving. Will they be able to pull that off?

Well, it starts with a trip to South Carolina this weekend. They also host Florida, LSU and the UMASS Minutemen while visiting Auburn in November. All of those games need to be wins. Then it’ll come down to the Oct. 29 showdown with Ole Miss. At least that one’s at home too, so their two road games left are against the two worst SEC teams they face. Winning out is plausible.
