Tennessee football makes cut for elite 2024 in-state athlete Boo Carter
More positive recruiting signs continue to roll in for Tennessee football this week after their huge victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide, and once again, they are benefitting from hosting recruits for that game and their win over the Florida Gators. A 2024 in-state athlete who was at both is now eyeing them heavily.
The Vols made the top 12 for Boo Carter of Chattanooga. A four-star on Rivals and ESPN but a three-star on 247Sports and On3, Carter is still a four-star on 247Sports Composite and On3 Consensus. He is listed as an athlete everywhere except On3, where he is a safety.
Joining Tennessee football on Carter’s list are the Ole Miss Rebels, Clemson Tigers, Kentucky Wildcats, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Oregon Ducks, Penn State Nittany Lions, Michigan State Spartans, Miami Hurricanes, Jackson State Tigers and Arizona State Sun Devils. He announced the schools Thursday on Twitter.
Coming out of Chattanooga Christian School in Hamilton County, Tenn., Carter is stands in the range of 5’10” to 6’0″ and weighs in the range of 180 to 190 pounds. It was clear that the Florida game had an effect on him, but if that’s the case, Alabama had to take it to another level.
All signs in recruiting predictions point to that having an effect as well. UT is the On3 favorite by a majority. The Rivals Fan Future Cast also has them a majority favorite, and the only 247Sports Crystal Ball picked UT as well with a medium confidence interval. There is no prediction on the Rivals Future Cast yet.
Of course, given his frame, it will be interesting to see how the Vols use Carter. If he is locked in at defensive back, well, the selling point is playing time given what he saw in person. However, he could be looking to play slot receiver, where players are clearly thriving in Josh Heupel’s system.
We have no way of knowing where he’ll end up position wise or school wise yet, but Tennessee football should be in good shape to land him. The early success and the fact that he is an in-state prospect are all strong signs, and he may end up being at a position where he can become a star.
