It’s not a top 25 game but is still the most intriguing SEC game of the week. Will the LSU Tigers team that lost 40-13 to Tennessee football show up, or will the one that beat the Florida Gators 45-35 show up? On the other side, will the Ole Miss Rebels keep alive the possibility that four SEC teams remain in College Football Playoff contention?

All of that is up for grabs in this one. LSU comes into this one just two spots outside of the Top 25 in the AP Poll and one spot out of the Top 25 in the Coaches Poll. A win here would do wonders for them, and it would really show that they are improving overall under Brian Kelly.

Ole Miss, meanwhile, has just been getting past teams in ugly fashion to get to 7-0, but they are 7-0. Perhaps Lane Kiffin’s side trolling of Tennessee football is working. Ranked No. 7 in both polls, they’ll have a strong case to reach the top five if they can pull it out in this one.

Prediction

Given how ugly Ole Miss has looked, this seems like a trendy upset pick. However, they looked better against the Auburn Tigers than LSU, and it’s not like LSU has looked great. Kelly’s team is still learning to handle success, so they’ll have another mistake-prone game, giving it away. Ole Miss wins outright, but it’ll be ugly, so take the under.

Ole Miss: 31 LSU: 30 (Ole Miss +2; Under 65)
