Last week, Tennessee football was able to do what the Texas Longhorns failed to do: beat Alabama. Texas had hype after almost winning that game, and then it was lost after they fell to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Well, they’ve been getting it back, roaring off a three-game winning streak to get to No. 20 in the AP Poll and No. 21 in the Coaches Poll.

Now, Steve Sarkisian’s team hits the road to take on Mike Gundy’s Oklahoma State Sooners. Last week, Oklahoma State suffered a heartbreaking loss to the TCU Horned Frogs, but they remain No. 11 in both polls, so they aren’t out of anything just yet. A win on Saturday puts them right back in the mix of things.

To be fair, it also puts Texas back in the mix of things. Neither team is out of the Big 12 Championship race, and a win by Texas would put them in prime position to make a run down the stretch of the season. It’s their chance to prove they have arrived under Sarkisian.

Prediction

Both teams are overrated. Texas hasn’t beaten anybody since that Texas Tech loss. Oklahoma State provided a spark by almost beating TCU, and they have this one at home. However, I’m still at a loss into how Oklahoma State was in that game with TCU after getting outplayed like that.

TCU outgained them 510-386 overall, so OSU was lucky more than anything. On top of that, Texas is undefeated in games Quinn Ewers starts and finishes, and he’s back. Spencer Sanders is questionable for OSU at quarterback. That’s enough. Take Texas to win because of Ewers. He’ll shred the OSU defense, so Texas covers. OSU won’t score enough for it to hit the over.
