Tennessee football still on top of SEC Power Rankings after Week 8 of 2022

It’s the perfect scenario for Arkansas. They were on a three-game losing streak and desperately needed a spark, and they found it with a huge win at the BYU Cougars just before their bye week. Now, Sam Pittman’s team can regroup, and despite no SEC Championship on the table this year, a strong finish is still possible.
If you take away that loss to Texas A&M, things don’t look so bad. Alabama is Alabama, and Mississippi State has been difficult for everybody in their house. They are two fluke plays away from being 5-2 and in the top 20 while A&M is even worse than they are.
Even with that loss, the Hogs did enough with that BYU win and their current record to stay ahead of them in our SEC Power Rankings, and they actually were able to move ahead of MSU too. However, they are still in the bottom half of the league, which is a total cluster.
Coming out of this, though, Arkansas has a huge game in a visit to Auburn. Despite Auburn’s issues, it’s on the road. If they can survive that, they then get to host the Liberty Flames along with LSU and Ole Miss, so 8-3 is on the table. A visit to Mizzou puts 9-3 to close the year on the table, but seven wins is a minimum with this slate.
