As mentioned, Will Levis is an NFL quarterback. Tennessee football has give up 300 yards or more in each of its last four games, and 400 yards or more in two of those games. The Vols’ secondary is destined to get torched on Saturday if they aren’t careful, and of all people, it’s up to Trevon Flowers to mitigate that.

Flowers is the one veteran we know will play for them in the secondary. Even if Jaylen McCollough is ready to go, he hasn’t played in three weeks. Warren Burrell is still out for the year. Kamal Hadden and Christian Charles will both be returning from injuries. Brandon Turnage also got hurt last week against the UT-Martin Skyhawks, although he should be okay.

Simply put, Flowers isn’t just the last line of protection for the secondary at free safety. He’s the last line of protection for them as the only reliable veteran at this point. Tim Banks will likely do what he’s been doing and try to keep everything in front of them.

However, that means Flowers has to come through and make a play at some point. If he does, the Vols will have a huge edge. On the other hand, no big plays from Flowers could make this Levis’ breakout game, and the Vols must avoid that at all costs.
