Transfers

Tyreke Key (Indiana State University)

  • 6’2″ 211 pounds
  • Senior (GR)
  • Celina, Tenn.

In four years with the Indiana State Sycamores, Tyreke Key averaged 14.5 points per game and shot 37.9 percent from three. A combo guard from within the state, the Clay County High School graduate missed all of last year due to shoulder surgery. That injury dipped his three-point shooting to 31.6 percent, but if he’s back to his old self, he’s a huge threat.

Freshmen

B.J. Edwards

  • 6’3″ 188 pounds
  • Knoxville, Tenn.
  • Knoxville Catholic High School

One of the favorites to help Zakai Zeigler at point guard, B.J. Edwards was Tennessee basketball’s earliest commitment. He is a four-star local combo guard who brings a lot to the table, and while there isn’t room for every elite prospect to get into the rotation this year, Edwards may have a better chance than most.

D.J. Jefferson

  • 6’5″ 207 pounds
  • Richardson, Texas
  • Minnesota Prep Academy

Similar to Jahmai Mashack last year, D.J. Jefferson is a four-star expected to provide depth on the wing. That’s a loaded position this year given some of the frontcourt players and the veterans who can play it, but Jefferson could work his way into the rotation there or at the two, so watch out.

Walk-ons

Evan Shiflet

  • 6’2″ 197 pounds
  • Nashville, Tenn.
  • Christ Presbyterian Academy

Kidd Brizek

  • 6’6″ 194 pounds
  • Powdersville, S.C.
  • Powdersville High School
