Tennessee football or Georgia in SEC Power Rankings after Week 9 of 2022?
Defeated Texas A&M Aggies 31-28
They held on against a program reeling. However, Ole Miss owes no apologies. Lane Kiffin’s team had to visit Texas A&M, and that’s a program that always scores its biggest win when its back is against the wall under Jimbo Fisher. Given their loss the previous week at LSU, Ole Miss was the perfect candidate for that.
Talk was abound about Ole Miss potentially being overrated. As a result, winning this game was a huge deal, and honestly, they were up 31-21 in the fourth quarter, so they had control for the most part. It was enough for us to move them one spot back up our SEC Power Rankings.
The SEC West is still in play for Ole Miss, and if Tennessee football wins the East, Ole Miss would obviously be a much more desirable opponent than Alabama again. It would also be a great revenge game for Tennessee football because of Kiffin and what happened last year.
However, Ole Miss needs LSU to lose a game. Fortunately, that’s possible this month, as both have huge matchups with Alabama. Ole Miss gets a key bye before that matchup. Then they visit Arkansas and host Mississippi State after Bama, so their schedule isn’t easy by any means, but a lot is still in play for them.
