Did not play
Speaking of teams still in play for the SEC West, LSU couldn’t have had better timing. Everything came together for them to beat Ole Miss. Then they hit their bye. Now, they enter November fresh, coming together in Brian Kelly’s system and in complete control of their own destiny to win the SEC West.
This team is a series of fluke special teams plays against FSU away from being 7-1. Tennessee football did blow them out, to be fair, but outside of that, they have a great resume. Also, they could face Tennessee football again, and if anybody knows about what happened in 2001, that’s the last thing the Vols want.
LSU has a dynasty brewing under Kelly, so the Vols struck while they could, but this month is their chance to give fans a first taste of that dynasty. Kelly having them in contention for lots of big things his first year can’t be understated, and it all comes down to this weekend.
With both teams coming off a bye, Alabama pays a visit to LSU. If LSU wins, they’ll be in the driver’s seat of the West. However, they still visit Arkansas and A&M, so it’s not a guarantee. In fact, the UAB Blazers at home are the only guaranteed win they have left.
