Tennessee football or Georgia in SEC Power Rankings after Week 9 of 2022?

We just mentioned LSU and Alabama both not playing ahead of a huge showdown this weekend. However, Alabama is getting dangerous. They blew out Mississippi State and now are probably pretty angry about their loss to Tennessee football, and that may not bode well for any remaining teams in the SEC West.

Nick Saban’s team had lots of things to work out, but for a coach who pays attention to detail like he does, a week off is a huge boost. Alabama remains one of just four teams in control of its own destiny for the College Football Playoff and one of five in control to potentially win the SEC Championship. They are among three teams with one SEC loss.

Honestly, none of them have bad losses either. LSU and Bama lost to the Vols. Ole Miss lost to LSU. However, LSU does have two losses, they lost to UT at home, and Ole Miss losing to LSU most recently keeps the below both. However, Ole Miss and Alabama are the only SEC teams with one loss overall.

After visiting LSU this weekend, Alabama then has to visit Ole Miss. They could fall to 7-3 easily, but conventional wisdom suggests they are going to lose one of these games. Closing things out against the Austin Peay Governors and then Auburn at home means at least nine wins, but three losses would be a huge disappointment for them.
