Tennessee football or Georgia in SEC Power Rankings after Week 9 of 2022?
Defeated Auburn Tigers 41-27
Sam Pittman’s team desperately needed a bye to correct a few things, and they took advantage against a reeling program coming off of it. Arkansas beat Auburn 41-27 and completely controlled most of the game. That loss to Texas A&M is among the flukes similar to Mizzou’s loss to Auburn and Kentucky’s loss to South Carolina.
If those three outcomes are different, these SEC Power Rankings are much more clear-cut. However, it’s pretty clear right now that Arkansas deserved to leapfrog Kentucky, as UK’s loss to Tennessee football wasn’t immune to us ignoring Arkansas beating an even rattling Auburn team.
Now, one thing that is true is it was always ridiculous looking back to put K.J. Jefferson above Tennessee football quarterback Hendon Hooker, but Jefferson has been battling injuries this year, so he has somewhat of an excuse. Now he’s got a chance for a strong home stretch.
Up next for the Hogs is a visit from the No. 23 Liberty Flames, which should be a win. They also close with a trip to Mizzou. There are the five wins, but in between, LSU and Ole Miss are at home, so that could actually get them to nine wins. As a result, this season isn’t a complete loss just yet.
