Tennessee football stock report after Week 9 of 2022
Stock up
Hendon Hooker to Jalin Hyatt
Honestly, Jalin Hyatt alone has been a star. The five-touchdown 200-plus yard game against the Alabama Crimson Tide stands out, but he’s caught at least two touchdown passes in each of Tennessee footballs past four games and gone over 150 yards in each of the past three.
The reason we say Hyatt alone is he caught one of his touchdown passes from Princeton Fant against the UT-Martin Skyhawks. However, generally, this has been a duo of Hendon Hooker to Hyatt, and Hooker has made his own plays to help Hyatt become more of a threat. As a result, they are a duo, and this duo continues to be the best in the nation.
Secondary
When we talk about deficiencies, this is what we meant with the Vols. Their secondary had given up at least 300 yards a game the previous four games before the Kentucky Wildcats and over 400 yards twice. However, they held Will Levis, an NFL prospect, to under 100 yards passing.
In addition to that, the Vols came away with three interceptions. You could consider this a stock to sell and a potential fluke, but honestly, getting healthier was the real story. Jaylen McCollough’s return and Doneiko Slaughter’s return to cornerback played a huge role in this. With Christian Charles and Kamal Hadden set to return, this stock is just rising.
