Tennessee football Week 8 NFL recap: Alvin Kamara scores three TDs
Former Vols who didn’t play
Joshua Dobbs – QB – Cleveland Browns
As the Cleveland Browns beat the Cincinnati Bengals 32-13 Monday night, Josh Dobbs watched Jacoby Brissett shine. Dobbs is the backup to Brissett, who is starting until DeShaun Watson returns, and Brissett completed 17-of-22 passes for 278 yards and a touchdown while rushing for another score.
Inactive
Matthew Butler – DL – Las Vegas Raiders
For the second straight week, Matthew Butler was inactive. Tennessee football was already loaded with players in this Raiders-Saints game, though.
Injured
Jauan Jennings – WR – San Francisco 49ers
A hamstring injury kept Jauan Jennings out as the San Francisco 49ers beat the Los Angeles Rams 31-14. It’s not clear when he’ll come back in.
Cordarrelle Patterson – RB – Atlanta Falcons
Last week was the fourth and what should be final week Cordarrelle Patterson missed due to being put on injured reserve. He was emerging as a superstar at running back, and the Atlanta Falcons beat the Carolina Panthers 37-34 without him. Now, he could return just in time to face the Los Angeles Chargers this week.
Derek Barnett – DE -Philadelphia Eagles
A torn ACL in the opener ended Derek Barnett’s season.
Emmanuel Moseley – DB – San Francisco 49ers
Just like Derek Barnett, Emmanuel Moseley is out with a torn ACL he suffered against the Carolina Panthers.
Ja’Wuan James – OL – Baltimore Ravens
In this year’s opener, Ja’Wuan James suffered a torn achilles. That has resulted in his second straight season-ending injury.
Bye week
Trey Smith – OL – Kansas City Chiefs
Josh Palmer – WR – Los Angeles Chargers
Former Vols on practice squads
Micah Abernathy – DB – Green Bay Packers
John Kelly – RB – Cleveland Browns
Khalil McKenzie – OL – Baltimore Ravens
With Alvin Kamara emerging, rookies making debuts and settling in as starters and Cordarrelle Patterson getting healthy, Tennessee football is in a position to take over the NFL in a week or two. It started this past week, as Kamara scored three times, but it may only get better from here.
