We’ve now hit every level of the secondary. Stetson Bennett has thrown three interceptions this year, and two have been to safeties. In Georgia’s only close game, they allowed multiple tackles for losses to safeties. Key to beating them is for Tennessee football’s safeties to be able to do both things, and a lot of that rests on Tim Banks’ blitz packages.

Banks has been the best defensive coordinator all year at dialing up the right blitzes. As a result, Trevon Flowers and Jaylen McCollough could both be key here. They’re both experienced, and both come from Georgia. However, Flowers is the guy better positioned to come through.

For starters, Flowers is more in rhythm, as he didn’t miss two games due to an off-the-field issue. He also has a bit more experience than McCollough. Finally, and most importantly, his production has stood out more this year, even though both have played a huge role.

Flowers proved his abilities as a blitzer when he made the sack to secure a victory for the Vols at the Pittsburgh Panthers. He also has two interceptions, a pass deflection, a forced fumble and 46 tackles, 27 of which were solo. The Vols are as close to full strength as they have been in the secondary since that Pitt game, so Flowers could be huge.
