Tennessee football stock report after Week 10 of 2022

Passing game
Left tackle is a part of the struggles in the passing game, so this is somewhat of a concern. However the story for Tennessee football beyond that is Hendon Hooker holding onto the ball too long and the wideouts being unable to get separation from Georgia’s cornerbacks. Hooker missing two open throws also hurt.
None of these things were flukey, so that could be a problem, but Josh Heupel’s and Alex Golesh’s play-calling was. They were caught off-guard by Kirby Smart’s blitz packages, as Smart sold out to doing that and stopping the big play. A screen or two would’ve ended that, and you have to think if they play again, Heupel and Golesh will have that in mind.
Linebackers
Juwan Mitchell missed a tackle on Stetson Bennett for Bennett’s first touchdown run, but again, the Vols did a solid job of stopping the run. A huge part of that was the linebackers, as Jeremy Banks stood out in a big way and once again proved his worth as a run-stopper.
Well, UT was also pretty good in coverage. Again, one wheel route got the linebackers, but for the most part, they showed improvement. As a result, the unit is flying under the radar right now, and it may be worth paying attention to going forward.
