Tennessee football didn’t drop too far in Week 10 SEC Power Rankings
Lost to Liberty Flames 21-19
Yes, the Liberty Flames have a great head coach in Hugh Freeze and may be the best Group of Five school. No, they shouldn’t have been able to beat the Arkansas Razorbacks. Sam Pittman’s kids really did have the hardest non-conference schedule ever for a program that didn’t play anybody in a Power Five conference.
The Hogs lost a heartbreaker over the weekend. They really should be 7-2 right now, as this game and that Texas A&M game earlier in the year have held them back. Because they join A&M as one of two teams with Group of Five losses in the league this year, though, we had to knock them way down in our SEC Power Rankings.
Although he struggled in Tennessee football’s loss at Georgia, this game was further proof that K.J. Jefferson never should’ve been considered better than Hendon Hooker. Arkansas talent-wise is probably still middle of the pack in the SEC, but this loss puts them in trouble.
Up next for this team is a visit from the red-hot LSU Tigers. Then they have to host the Ole Miss Rebels, and yes, both of those could end up being losses. They finish off the year with a trip to the Missouri Tigers, and although they’ll be favored, Mizzou has proven to be dangerous, so watch out for what happens there.
