Lost to Kentucky Wildcats 21-17

How unlucky can Mizzou get? They would be the only team to get a rouging the punter penalty because of a bad snap that resulted in them almost blocking the punt. It’s a terrible rule but the right call. That is what resulted in them losing to the Kentucky Wildcats 21-17 over the weekend, and it’s been indicative of the season.

Mizzou has not lost any game in SEC play by more than one score. They led Georgia by 10 in the fourth quarter, and UGA’s comeback was sparked by a fourth down conversion in which a false start should’ve been called. The Dawgs came back to just win by four. Meanwhile, a missed chip shot field goal and fluke fumble cost them against Auburn.

Eli Drinkwitz’s team should easily be 7-2 right now, and they did only lose by seven to Florida, so they could be 8-1. Staying in every game is enough for us to say they are near middle of the pack in our SEC Power Rankings, but reaching a bowl game will now be difficult.

Up next for Mizzou is a trip to Tennessee football. Now, lucky for them, after that, they host the New Mexico State Aggies and then Arkansas, so six wins is still on the table. Given how this team has played, though, even seven wins is on the table. Finishing 4-8 is also possible.
