Defeated Texas A&M Aggies 41-24

Billy Napier’s team finally got a nice win on the road. Okay, so it was against a Texas A&M team that’s falling apart, but who cares? Florida blew them out, proving they do have talent. This team has just been cursed by a brutal schedule against a healthy Kentucky program, at Tennessee football and against LSU and Georgia.

For a rebuilding program, that’s a lot to deal with. Nonetheless, they have that win over the Utah Utes in their back pocket, and with the way they blew out Texas A&M over the weekend, they are now in the top half of our SEC Power Rankings. They remain in the middle of the pack, though.

The future appears to be bright for Florida with Napier at the helm if you look at recruiting and the respect he commands. For now, though, the focus needs to be on a strong finish to the season to generate more excitement. That’s certainly possible but not a given.

Up next for Florida is a visit from South Carolina and then a trip to Vanderbilt. That should get them to seven wins. The telling game will be their visit to the Florida State Seminoles. If they can win that one to finish 8-4, that’s a strong start to the Napier era.
