Tennessee football didn’t drop too far in Week 10 SEC Power Rankings
Defeated Missouri Tigers 21-17
We could have knocked Kentucky for needing so much luck to beat Missouri. However, everybody needed luck to beat Mizzou. Coming off a 44-6 loss at Tennessee football, who cares how Mark Stoops’ team won? They beat a program on the road that hasn’t lost an SEC game by more than one score all season.
Simply put, a win is a win, and Kentucky clinched bowl eligibility in the process. They have suffered two unlucky losses on the year anyway. A slew of special teams errors is the only reason they didn’t beat Ole Miss, and an injury to Will Levis is the only reason they didn’t beat South Carolina.
As a result, UK is still in the top half of our SEC Power Rankings and did enough by winning alone to move up a spot. A top 25 finish to the season is still in play, and while there’s a lot of parity in the league outside of at the top, Kentucky seems to just be chugging along.
Up next for UK is a visit from Vanderbilt, so that should get them to seven wins. Then they have two more games to define the season: a huge one at home against Georgia and then a trip to the Louisville Cardinals. They could be underdogs in both and will certainly be underdogs against UGA, but hey, anything can happen.
