Stars of the week

Cordarrelle Patterson – RB – Atlanta Falcons

After four weeks off due to injury, Cordarrelle Patterson returned with a bang. Patterson had 13 carries for 44 yards and two touchdowns along with a nine-yard catch. Now, the Atlanta Falcons did lose 20-17 to the Los Angeles Chargers over the weekend, but nobody would blame that on Patterson and what he did.

Before getting hurt, Patterson was Tennessee football’s best player in the pros this year. He is in his 10th season and shockingly made the switch over to running back from wide receiver and return specialist. It’s worked out perfectly, and despite the issues in Atlanta, he’s still doing well.

Joshua Palmer – WR – Los Angeles Chargers

While Patterson had his return game, on the other side, Josh Palmer may have had his breakout game. In his second year as a wideout for the Chargers, Palmer came off the bye week and put on a show. He finished with eight catches for 106 yards as the Chargers pulled out the win.

This was to be expected given the injuries that had plagued the team, but where Palmer really stepped up was in crunch time. He had three catches for 51 yards on the game-tying and game-winning field goal drives by LA. Going forward, he could start to see a larger role because of this, so watch out for what comes of him.
