Tennessee football week 9 NFL recap: Welcome back Cordarrelle Patterson
Former Vols who did not play
Bryce Thompson – DB – New Orleans Saints
He was on the depth chart, but Bryce Thompson was the one former Tennessee football player who didn’t see any action for the Saints Monday night as they lost 27-13 to the Ravens.
Inactive
Velus Jones Jr. – WR – Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears turned to receivers other than Velus Jones Jr. as they lost 35-32 to the Miami Dolphins. It’s unclear when he’ll see the field again.
Kendal Vickers – DL – Las Vegas Raiders
While fellow Tennessee football defensive lineman Matthew Butler played for the Raiders over the weekend, Kendal Vickers wasn’t out there as they lost to the Jaguars.
Darrell Taylor – OLB – Seattle Seahawks
After leaving last week’s game with a hip injury, Darrell Taylor was held out of the Seahawks’ win over the Cardinals. He’s not on the injured reserve, though, so he could see the field next week.
Injured
Derek Barnett – DE -Philadelphia Eagles
A torn ACL in the opener ended Derek Barnett’s season.
Emmanuel Moseley – DB – San Francisco 49ers
Just like Derek Barnett, Emmanuel Moseley is out with a torn ACL he suffered against the Carolina Panthers.
Ja’Wuan James – OL – Baltimore Ravens
In this year’s opener, Ja’Wuan James suffered a torn achilles. That has resulted in his second straight season-ending injury.
Former Vols on practice squads
Micah Abernathy – DB – Green Bay Packers
John Kelly – RB – Cleveland Browns
Khalil McKenzie – OL – Baltimore Ravens
Michael Palardy – P – Carolina Panthers
To recap, Tennessee football had a returning and a breakout star this week in Cordarrelle Patterson and Josh Palmer respectively. They still have an established star in Alvin Kamara and a reliable starter in Trey Smith. A couple of injuries are holding back their full pro potential, but they are showing how elite their former weapons are.
