Elements of this game scream upset. You’ve got an SEC team that hasn’t lost a conference game by more than one score all year facing a team in the College Football Playoff hunt but coming off a blowout loss last week that really wrecked the momentum of a special season.

Last week’s 27-13 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs may not have knocked Tennessee football out of the playoff, but it severely damaged Hendon Hooker’s Heisman chances, and barring a miracle, it ended their hopes for an SEC Championship. Ranked No. 5 across the board, they need to bounce back, but it’ll be tough.

Mizzou is two fluke plays from being 6-3, as they should’ve beaten Kentucky last week and Auburn earlier in the year. Eli Drinkwitz’s team likes to make things ugly and slow the game down with their elite defensive line, and that’ll be put to the test against a high-powered offense like the Vols. Can they catch them napping as they try to reach bowl eligibility?

Prediction

Playing Georgia tough was probably the worst thing for Mizzou in this game. It awakened the Vols to what this team could do, and they are mature enough to get over a loss like last week. Finally, an offense is going to have a field day against this defense, which hasn’t been tested in the secondary that much.

Next. Five Vols to watch for vs. Mizzou. dark

Expect Tennessee football’s offensive line to do its job, and the Vols will air it out. Hooker’s Heisman campaign gets back on track, as does the Vols’ fight to reach the playoff. UT is a three-touchdown favorite for a reason, and they’ll pour on even more. Take the game to hit the over as they cover in the process. Tennessee: 48 Missouri: 17 (Tennessee -20.5; Over 57)
