This traditional SEC rivalry is two crazy plays away from having a heck of a lot more magnitude behind it. Now, SEC fans should be heavily invested on one team winning just to make the conference not look too bad, and Tennessee football needs that for its playoff resume.

The LSU Tigers come in riding high. Brian Kelly’s team just made it into the driver’s seat of the SEC West with a huge win at home against the Alabama Crimson Tide last week. Despite two losses, they are No. 7 in the CFP and AP Poll and No. 8 in the Coaches Poll, so a playoff appearances is certainly on the table.

Meanwhile, Sam Pittman’s Arkansas Razorbacks suffered another heartbreaking loss. They fell to the Liberty Flames of all people at home last week. Combine that 21-19 loss with their fluke two-point loss to the Texas A&M Aggies, and they should easily be 7-2 right now. That makes them dangerous, and this is a chance to prove that.

Prediction

Lots of experts are all in on an Arkansas upset, but I just don’t see it happening. Sure, there is a lack of faith in a first-year head coach, but with the West in play, Kelly is bound to keep his kids focused in a game like this. With the Hogs suffering low morale, LSU pulls it out and covers. Take the under in this game, though, as both defenses will show up.

LSU: 31 Arkansas: 24 (LSU -3.5; Under 61.5)
