This could turn out to be a very interesting interdivisional showdown, one Tennessee football fans may have some interest in. While it may involve the best team in the nation, it also involves a team that has been flirting with the top 25 all year and is playing at home.

That home factor is huge for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Mike Leach’s team hasn’t lost all year in Starkville, and this is a great chance for him to prove his air raid is making strides down there. It took five years for the Washington State Cougars to start getting into playoff contention under Leach, and this is only Year Three at MSU.

On the other side, the Georgia Bulldogs proved they are the best team in the nation last week with the way they dominated Tennessee football. Ranked No. 1 across the board now, they should have effectively clinched a playoff berth, but they still have two road games coming up, starting with this one, so Kirby Smart’s team has work to do.

Prediction

UGA will win, but it’s going to be a fight. They are riding a bit too high after that win over the Vols, and MSU can be extremely dangerous at home. Expect Leach to turn this into a shootout by hitting a couple of surprise shots, forcing the Dawgs’ offense to respond. They will, but they won’t cover, and it’ll force the game to hit the over.
