Now here is the real game Tennessee football fans will pay attention to. It has huge playoff implications, and Vol fans desperately need one team to lose. It will also force them to root for a program they have derided for years given its same color and its UT name.

Yes, the Vols have to root for the Texas Longhorns in this one. Steve Sarkisian’s team could easily be undefeated right now, but they are at least firmly in the top 25, at No. 18 across the board, after their win over the Kansas State Wildcats last week. This is the first big game for Texas at home since almost beating Alabama, and it’s a chance at a huge statement win.

TCU comes into this game having barely squeaked by so many Big 12 programs, but by hook or crook, they are undefeated and ranked No. 4 across the board. Winning out will put them in the playoff, and a win on the road in this game will definitely confirm the fact that they belong where they are.

Prediction

After all this talk of being overrated, Sonny Dykes’ team has to take that personal, right? Well, they may, but taking things personal won’t be enough. Texas is very good at home, particularly on defense, and that’s what shows up in this one. The spread is tough, but the game does hit the under. In a shot in the dark, take them to cover is well.
