2. 839. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Tyler Baron. Defensive end. Junior. player

1 sack, 4 TFLs, 4 tackles (4 solo)

One drive put Tyler Baron on this list. Tennessee football had finally broken the game open, leading 49-24. That’s when the Vols were able to unleash their pass rush, and Baron was the one who came through. He got the first sack of the day in the fourth quarter on Brady Cook.

That brought up a 2nd and 15, but a fluke pass interference by UT generated a first down on the next play. Well, Baron decided to come through again. On a 2nd and 3, he stopped Cody Schrader for a two-yard loss, so in one drive, he came away with a sack and a tackle for a loss.

In the first half, Baron was also crucial. He stopped Cook for a loss on a play that wasn’t considered a sack because it was an option, but Baron read it perfectly. Also, in the first quarter, he had a huge stop. Now, there is one caveat to all of this that’s somewhat unfortunate: None of Baron’s stops really mattered.

Mizzou scored a touchdown after his first stop thanks to a roughing the kicker penalty. They hit that 4th and 1 over the top on his second stop. Then, on this drive, they got a first down after each of his stops. However, you can’t ignore this stat line. On top of that, it made Baron a huge factor, which limited Mizzou’s offense, so either way, he makes the list.
