Tennessee football unchanged in Week 11 SEC Power Rankings
Defeated Mississippi State Bulldogs 45-19
Well, Georgia has clinched the SEC East once again. Kirby Smart owns the league, and if blowing out Tennessee football wasn’t enough, blowing out Mississippi State on the road should’ve been. Remember, that’s an MSU team that hasn’t lost at home all season, so the win is impressive.
UGA has all but punched its ticket to the College Football Playoff and should be the unanimous No. 1 team across the board. Sure, their win over the Oregon Ducks looks a bit less impressive now that Oregon has lost a second game, but they still have that win over the Vols, whose resume beyond the Dawgs gets better by the day.
It seems like Smart truly is turning Georgia into the new Alabama with its dominant defense and ball control offense. Honestly, the offense’s efficiency is underrated because of that style, as Stetson Bennett has done a great job all year with the ball in his hands. Key for Georgia now is just not slipping up.
Another road game is on the table now, as they have to visit Kentucky this week. That should be a win, but they need to be careful, as they did almost lose to Mizzou. Then they host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. If they win those two, they’re in, and if they then win the SEC Championship game, Tennessee football is probably in.
