Tennessee football unchanged in Week 11 SEC Power Rankings
Defeated South Carolina Gamecocks 38-6
It was noticeable last week with their dominant win over Texas A&M, and it’s even more clear now. Florida as a program is really starting to take off under Billy Napier, and while Kentucky is no longer a quality win for Tennessee football, the Gators could be turning into one. How they have looked the past two weeks can’t be ignored.
Okay, so A&M and South Carolina aren’t great teams. Still, nothing about how Florida has played all year suggested they should have dominated either game the way they did. Doing so is enough for us to say they are the best of the rest in our SEC Power Rankings, and that rest is non-top 25 teams. Florida should likely be the first to get in.
We saw flashes when they beat the Utah Utes to open the season, but there were clear growing pains after that. Now, it all seems to be coming together. Remember, they did come close to beating the Vols, and they’ll likely be a dangerous out in the years to come.
For this year, though, a top 25 finish is the goal. They close things out with what sure be a sure win against Vanderbilt at home. Then they have the annual showdown with the Florida State Seminoles, a team, like them, that has gotten red-hot recently. That should make the game more interesting than it’s been in years.
