Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. r-Senior (GR). Hendon Hooker. Quarterback. 1. player. 839

25-of-42 for 247 yards, 3 TDs; 5 carries for 25 yards

He may have played his last snap for Tennessee football after that devastating injury, but even with that being the storyline, Hendon Hooker still managed to be the best player on the team for the Vols Saturday night. Hooker did everything within his power to keep the Vols in the game and deserves a ton of credit for that.

We mentioned his 29-yard run to start things off on the first drive. Beyond that, Hooker made play after play. Now, to be fair, he wasn’t perfect. His touchdown pass to Bru McCoy was lucky, and he missed on too many key passes over the middle after South Carolina took away the deep ball.

However, Hooker threw a perfect pass on his touchdown to Princeton Fant and rightly trusted Cedric Tillman to make a play on his fourth down touchdown pass. He consistently drove the Vols into South Carolina territory, and only one drive that stalled can be blamed on him. That was one where he threw a pass a bit behind Jacob Warren.

Yes, he missed Jalin Hyatt on a couple plays, but in general, Hooker did his job. Tennessee football got over 270 yards and three total touchdowns from him, and that was without most of the fourth quarter. He did what he needed to do to win, and once again, he was the team’s best player.
