Former Vols who only saw action on special teams

Michael Palardy – P – New England Patriots

In his first game since 2020, Michael Palardy had a bang of a return as a punter. He punted seven times and averaged 45.29 yards per punt in the New England Patriots’ 10-3 win over the New York Jets. Given the low score, field position was huge, and Palardy did his part.

Morgan Cox – LS – Tennessee Titans

One of Tennessee football’s most legendary specialist in the pros, Morgan Cox was in on seven snaps last Thursday. He snapped for four extra points and three punts. Josh Lambo hit three of those four extra points, and Ryan Stonehouse averaged 51 yards a punt as the Tennessee Titans beat the Green Bay Packers.

Theo Jackson – DB – Minnesota Vikings

Another rookie from UT, Theo Jackson was in on 93 percent of special teams snaps and recovered a fumble in the Minnesota Vikings’ 40-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Jalen Reeves-Maybin – LB – Houston Texans

In the Houston Texans’ 23-10 loss to the Washington Commanders, Jalen Reeves-Maybing was in on 93 percent of special teams snaps. He recorded no stats.

Bryce Thompson – DB – New Orleans Saints

The last former Vol for the Saints in their win over the Rams was in on 65 percent of special teams snaps and recorded no stats.

Overall, there were plenty of producers for Tennessee football over the weekend, but special teams was the story. Cordarrelle Patterson, Velus Jones Jr., Michael Palardy, Morgan Cox and even Theo Jackson were in on big plays on special teams this week.
