Tennessee football Week 13 NFL recap: Defensive players shine
Former Vols who saw significant action
Cam Sutton – DB – Pittsburgh Steelers
Similar to Alontae Taylor, Cameron Sutton was elite with the Pittsburgh Steelers at cornerback and almost made a star of the week. He was part of a secondary that only allowed 167 yards to Marcus Mariota, and he had a pass deflection and four tackles, three of which were solo, in Pittsburgh’s 19-16 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Shy Tuttle – DL – New Orleans Saints
Another solid Tennessee football player in a losing effort, Shy Tuttle also made the stars of the week list. He only played 40 percent of defensive snaps, but he assisted on a sack and had a pass deflection in the Saints’ 17-16 loss to the Bucs.
Josh Palmer – WR – Los Angeles Chargers
As the Los Angeles Chargers lost to the Las Vegas Raiders 27-20, Josh Palmer had seven catches for 60 yards. He didn’t score a touchdown but was still effective.
Cordarrelle Patterson – RB – Atlanta Falcons
On the other side of Sutton, Cordarrelle Patterson had 11 carries for 60 yards in the Falcons’ loss to the Steelers.
Alvin Kamara – RB – New Orleans Saints
Joining Patterson, Alvin Kamara didn’t live up to his early-season standard at running back and was in a losing effort. He had 12 carries for 26 yards and two catches for 11 yards in that Saints loss Monday.
Matthew Butler – DL – Las Vegas Raiders
Back in action for the first time in nearly a month, Matthew Butler only played 17 percent of defensive snaps in the Raiders’ victory over the Chargers. However, he assisted on a sack, which put him on this page.
