Tennessee football makes cut for elite 2024 Pennsylvania DB Omillio Agard
A benefit to the success Tennessee football is enjoying under Josh Heupel right now is the ability to go national once again on the recruiting trail, even if it’s on the side of the ball that Heupel isn’t known for. He now has the Vols trending for an elite 2024 defensive back out of Pennsylvania.
Rocky Top is in the top five for Omillio Agard. A product of St. Joseph’s Prep School in Philadelphia, Pa., Agard is a four-star on ESPN and Rivals but a three-star on 247Sports and On3. However, On3 Consensus and 247Sports Composite have him as a four-star.
Joining Tennessee football on Agard’s list are the Penn State Nittany Lions, Michigan Wolverines, Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers. He announced the schools Monday morning with a graphic on Twitter.
Standing in the range of 5’10” and 5’11” while weighing in the range of 155 to 175 pounds, Agard is listed as a cornerback across the board. That’s clearly a position of need for Rocky Top, which anybody would have seen this year.
Just being in this list is pretty impressive for Rocky Top. Consider the other candidates. Three of them have made the College Football Playoff within the past three years, two made it just last year, and two have won national championships the past five years.
The only other team not fitting into any of those categories would be Penn State, but that’s Agard’s home state college. Simply put, the Vols would be the least likely team to be on here, so they made it because of what they have to sell as a program and nothing else.
There are no favorites on the Rivals Future Cast or 247Sports Crystal Ball to land Agard just yet, but On3 has Penn State as a plurality favorite with Michigan second and Tennessee football. Clemson is the plurality favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast.
