Tennessee football NFL Week 15 recap: Rookie DB shines
Former Vols who played on special teams
Michael Palardy – P – New England Patriots
On the other side of that Patriots loss to the Raiders, Michael Palardy averaged 45.2 yards per punt on five punts. Two went inside the 20, but one was blocked.
Morgan Cox – LS – Tennessee Titans
Snapping for 10 special teams plays, Morgan Cox was in on two extra points and the missed 51-yard field goal by Randy Bullock. He was also in on Ryan Stonehouse’s seven punts, which averaged 56 yards and four of which pinned the Chargers inside the 20. The Titans still lost 17-14.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin – LB – Houston Texans
In the Texan’s OT loss to the Chiefs, Jalen Reeves-Maybing played 86 percent of special teams plays and recorded no stats.
Theo Jackson – DB – Minnesota Vikings
The Jackson was in on 81 percent of special teams plays with no stats as the Minnesota Vikings came back to beat the Indianapolis Colts 39-36.
Justin Coleman – DB – Seattle Seahawks
Despite appearing on just 36 percent of special teams snaps, Justin Coleman had a solo tackle as the 49ers beat the Saints.
Late in the season, it seems to all be coming together for Tennessee football in the NFL, and that’s despite key players being out for the year. Young guys are really starting to emerge, and that could bode well for the future, particularly as Josh Heupel puts more players in the pros.
