Michigan players in the 2024 recruiting class seem to have recently been taking an interest in Tennessee football, as the Vols have begun trending for two such prospects, specifically from the Detroit area, since Christmas ended. Both of them are on the defensive side of the ball.

Linebacker Jeremiah Beasley has UT in his top five. A product of Belleville High School in Belleville, Mich., which is just outside of Detroit but still in Wayne County, Beasley is a four-star on 247Sports, ON3, 247Sports Composite and ON3 Consensus. He is a three-star on Rivals and ON3.

Joining Tennessee football on Beasley’s list are the Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans, Kentucky Wildcats and Pittsburgh Panthers. ON3 Recruits announced his list with a photo on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

Beasley’s list came out within half an hour of elite defensive back Jacob Oden putting the Vols in his top five. In between them, in-state athlete Boo Carter put the Vols in his, so it was a busy day for Josh Heupel and co. trying to focus on 2024.

As far as Beasley goes, he stands between 6’1″ and 6’2″ and weighs in the range of 210 to 220 pounds. He is listed as an outside linebacker on Rivals, an inside linebacker on ESPN and just a linebacker on 247Sports and ON3.

Regardless of where he would end up, the Vols clearly have a need there. Sure, they have massively upgraded at all those positions with their 2023 recruiting class, but there’s no way of knowing who will work out, and given how deep the issues are, they need more.

Luring Beasley away from Michigan will be tough for Tennessee football, as Michigan State has all four 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions with a medium confidence interval. ON3 has them as the plurality favorite with Michigan a close second and Pitt a distant third. MSU is the Rivals Fan Future Cast majority favorite too.
