Tennessee vs. Ole Miss prediction and odds for Wednesday, December 28th (Defense will reign supreme)
After what seemed like a long holiday break, college basketball is back in action with a big SEC matchup tonight between No. 7 Tennessee and Ole Miss.
The Volunteers trounced Austin Peay, 86-44, in their final game before the break, and they’ll look to keep that momentum going in their first conference game of the season.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss will try to get rid of the bad taste in their mouth leftover by a 66-65 loss to North Alabama before the holiday break. They can right the ship in a hurry with a huge upset win over the Vols to open up their SEC play.
Let’s dive into the odds for the game and then I’ll give you my best bet.
Tennessee vs. Ole Miss odds, spread, and total
Tennessee vs. Ole Miss prediction and pick
This game is going to be a defensive slugfest. The Vols enter the game as the best defensive team in the country, ranking first in both defensive efficiency and opponent effective field goal percentage.
With that being said let’s be honest about their offense. It hasn’t been good this season. They’re 233rd in effective field goal percentage and they turn the ball over on 19.4% of their possessions.
Luckily for them, Ole Miss is similar in that regard. Their offense is certainly nothing to write home about, but they rank 57th in defensive efficiency and 43rd in opponent effective field goal percentage.
There also might be some holiday rust that needs to get worked off with each team’s shooting, so I’ll be looking to bet on the UNDER in this game in what should be a defense-first matchup.
