Tennessee has dropped its last two games at the buzzer to inferior opponents in Vanderbilt and Missouri, but now has the opportunity to score its biggest win of the season against No. 1 Alabama.

The Crimson Tide are on a tear, undefeated in SEC play, and scored a massive road win at Auburn over the weekend.

Can Alabama solidify its standing as the top team in the conference, or can the Vols get back on track and back into the mix for a No. 1 seed come Selection Sunday?

Here are the odds for Wednesday’s matchup:

Alabama vs. Tennessee odds, spread and total

Alabama vs. Tennessee best bet and prediction

While Alabama was able to go on the road and beat Auburn, I don’t believe it is going to get the same result in Knoxville on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide struggled from the perimeter, hitting only 28% of their shots, and hit on only 56% of their 23 free throw attempts.

However, Auburn’s poor offense held the team back.

Not only is Tennessee better on the defensive end, particularly on the interior to slow down Alabama’s wings from getting into the paint, but the team is far more dangerous along the perimeter, shooting 33% from 3-point range in SEC play.

Alabama has seen its play drop off on the road this season, the team is 344th in Haslametrics away from home rating, meaning that the team falls of a cliff on the road and I think that leads to issues in this matchup against the best defense in the SEC.

While the Tide are a dangerous offense, the team does rely on getting to the rim a ton, but Tennessee’s 23rd in field goal percentage at the rim and its disciplined defense leaves little holes for the opposition to drive into.

After beating its rival on the road despite not playing its best, I think we see Alabama drop its first SEC game. I’ll lay the points with the Vols.
