Tennessee Lady Vols lose to South Carolina at home: Two takeaways
By Blake Wyman
The Tennessee Lady Vols hosted the South Carolina Gamecocks last night in Thompson-Boling Arena and lost 73-60.
The Tennessee Lady Vols had been on fire lately, going undefeated in their last three games. However, the tides turned for the Lady Vols on Thursday night as they hosted the No. 1 ranked Gamecocks. d
The girls put up a fight but ended up coming just from securing the home upset. Here are two takeaways that I found interesting from the game last night:
Rickea Jackson is unstoppable
Even against the No. 1 ranked team in the country, Jackson was still able to put up phenomenal numbers. She had 21 points and 5 rebounds in the game and went 9-of-11 from the free-throw line.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t much help from her other teammates which is why the Lady Vols inevitably lost by 13. South Carolina moves to 28-0 this year after defeating the Lady Vols.
Jordan Horston is a rebounding machine
Horston led the Lady Vols last night with 11 rebounds and was a big part of why this game was able to remain close. The Senior from Ohio also contributed with 14 points and 3 blocks in the loss against South Carolina.
I am looking forward to seeing what both Horston and Jackson will be able to do in the SEC tournament and into March Madness.
The Tennessee Lady Vols travel to Kentucky on Sunday to take on the Wildcats in their last game of the regular season.
