Tennessee Baseball: Vols Advance to Super Regional vs. Southern Miss

Rocky Top get excited!! Tennessee Baseball has made it to the super regional and is set to face off against Southern Miss.

The super regional will feature a three-game series to determine who will advance to the college baseball playoffs in Omaha. With both teams coming off regional victories, this is sure to be a good matchup. The Vols for sure feel like they have been overlooked by the committee and really deserved to have the home-field advantage; however, the committee decided that the super regional will be held in Hattiesburg.

Super Regional Preview: Tennessee vs. Southern Miss

The Tennessee Volunteers dominated the Clemson Regional, sweeping the weekend and winning their third straight regional title. They crushed Charlotte 9-2 in the title game on Sunday and pulled off an incredible 6-5 comeback win in 14 innings against No. 4-seeded Clemson on Saturday. With a 38-19 record, the Vols earned the No. 2 seed in the regional and are poised to make a deep run in the postseason.

Meanwhile, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles battled their way out of the losers bracket in the Auburn Regional after losing their opener 4-2 to Samford. They went on to top No. 13-seeded Auburn, eliminate Samford, and win back-to-back elimination games against Penn. They clinched the regional with an 11-7 win on Monday as the No. 2 seed in the bracket. With a 41-17 record, the Golden Eagles clinched an automatic bid in the postseason by winning the Sun Belt Tournament. Coach Scott Berry’s final season has been nothing short of remarkable, and the Golden Eagles are poised to make a statement in the super regional.

As Tennessee Baseball and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles prepare to square off in the Super Regional, both teams will be looking to make a statement and advance to the College World Series. The Vols will be relying on their powerful offense and deep bullpen to carry them to victory, while the Golden Eagles will be looking to their talented lineup and clutch performers to pull off an upset. No matter who comes out on top, this series is sure to be an exciting battle between two talented teams that are hungry for postseason success.
