While they aren’t the world’s most successful program, the Tennessee Volunteers have been playing solid basketball for decades in the SEC.

The Volunteers have yet to break through, lacking a Final Four appearance in their long history, but the program has seen bright days in recent years. Bruce Pearl led this program to their first Elite Eight just over a decade ago, and Rick Barnes has helmed quite the revival lately.

Recent history is great, but Tennessee has been playing basketball competitively for over a century. There have been a lot of games in Volunteers basketball history against a myriad of foes.

While Tennessee certainly matches up against their conference rivals on a yearly basis, they’ve also played a few hundred other schools throughout their history. While it’s an impressively long list, it’s nowhere near complete, as there are current 362 D1 programs in the country.

After you factor in the two months of SEC play, there aren’t too many games on the schedule for random opponents. Chances to play new teams don’t come up quite often. It’s also true that Tennessee has faced a long list of opponents only a few times and may not get a chance for revenge if things don’t go their way.

That is our focus for today’s piece, as we’re looking specifically at the programs that Tennessee has played in their history who they’ve never beaten. We’re only including the D1 programs, though it’s a longer list than some might expect, especially with all the schools they are 0-1 against. Let’s start revealing them.
